The 112 Single European EmergencyNumber is launched in Emilia-Romagna

The service was presented at a press conference by the acting President of Emilia-Romagna and Councillor for Civil Protection Irene Priolo, the Councillor for Health Policies Raffaele Donini, the Deputy Prefect of Bologna Beaumont Bortone, the coordinator of the regional emergency network 118 Antonio Pastori and the representatives of the police forces and emergency services involved.

The Single European Emergency Number 112 is active in Emilia Romagna: the launch in the region concerns the telephone districts with the area code 051, which mainly relates to the northern part of the metropolitan city of Bologna and the municipality of Cento (FE), and 0534, which mainly relates to the area of Porretta Terme, also in the Bologna area.

Operational in the northern part of the metropolitan city of Bologna, in the municipalities of Cento and Porretta Terme to call the Police, Carabinieri, Fire Brigade, medical and sea rescue services. The current numbers can still be used..

The European Union directive aimed at harmonizing emergency services and allowing anyone in the European territory to make emergency calls by dialling a single telephone number valid in all member states is thus implemented. An innovation introduced, at different times, throughout the national territory, and which in Emilia-Romagna brought all the institutions to work together in close and fruitful collaboration: the Region, the Prefecture of Bologna, the regional Prefectures and Police Headquarters, regional and provincial branches of the Carabinieri, the Fire Brigade, the Traffic Police, the Port Authority and the 118 Service.
