The Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, participated today in L’Aquila, together with the President of the Abruzzo region, Marco Marsilio, in the inauguration ceremony of the new 112 PSAP. Present at the event, among others, were the prefect and the mayor of the city, Giancarlo Di Vincenzo and Pierluigi Biondi.
The PSAP, housed in the offices of the local Regional Civil Protection Agency, is manned by 40 operators who alternate over 3 shifts 24/7.
By dialling any emergency number (112, 113, 115, 118, 1530) you will come into contact with the operator of the 112 PSAP who will take the call ..
The operator will use a very modern software capable of providing the exact location of the caller and possibly a simultaneous translation system for foreign language calls, and a messaging system for deaf people. Once the need has been identified, they will transfer the call directly to the competent body: Carabinieri, State Police, fire brigade, health service, port authority. All will only take a few seconds.
Furthermore, 112 can also be activated via the free “Where Are U” App, which automatically sends location data and the type of intervention required to the PSAP, even without the need to start the voice call.
