NAVIGATION DATA AND COOKIES

The computer systems and software procedures used to operate the sites in question acquire, during their normal operation, some personal data whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols. This information is not collected to be associated with identified subjects, but, by its very nature, could allow users to be identified through processing and association with data held by third parties. This category of data includes the IP addresses or domain names of the computers and terminals used by users, the URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) addresses of the requested resources, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numeric code indicating the status of the response given by the server (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters relating to the operating system and the user’s IT environment. Such data, necessary for the use of web services, are also processed for the purpose of:
  • obtaining anonymous statistical information on the use of the services (most visited pages, number of visitors per time slot or day, geographical areas of origin, etc.);
  • checking the correct functioning of the services offered.
Furthermore, the data may also be used to ascertain responsibility in the event of any computer crimes against the site. The information provided will not be communicated to parties external to their processing. No cookies are used to profile users, nor are other tracking methods employed. Instead, (non-persistent) session cookies are used in a strictly limited manner to what is necessary for the safe and efficient navigation of the sites. The storage of session cookies in terminals or browsers is under user control through their security settings. Cookies are small text strings that the sites visited by the user send to his terminal (usually to the browser), where they are stored before being retransmitted to the same sites at the next visit by the same user. While browsing a site, the user may also receive cookies on his terminal that are sent from different sites or web servers (so-called “third parties”), which may contain some elements (such as, for example, images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains) present on the site that the user is visiting. In particular, technical cookies are used to access online content and to provide the service requested by the user, and third-party cookies. Technical cookies Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service” (see art. 122, par. 1, of the Code). They are not used for further purposes and are normally installed directly by the owner of the website. Specifically, cookies are installed on this site to store the preference expressed on the banner for the browsing session. Third party cookies Some features are implemented using third-party services, listed below. These services may produce cookies that are linked to the services provided by third parties. The third party provides these services in exchange for information regarding the user’s visit to the portal. This also means that third-party cookie suppliers are required to comply with the relevant legislation.
