Safety procedures
In the event of lightning, adopt the following safety procedures:
- If you are at home, do not use electrical appliances or landline telephones. Turn off the TV, computer, hair dryer, iron and household appliances;
- Do not touch metal objects or devices connected to the outside, such as pipes, tubes and radiators;
- If you are in a car, keep the windows closed and disconnect the antenna from the radio or at least keep it in a lower position, and avoid touching metal parts;
- If you are outdoors, stay away from tall trees and do not take shelter under isolated trees; do not use cell phones or other radio frequency devices; get rid of umbrellas and move away from poles, bell towers, roofs, pylons, cranes, antennas, metal masts of boats;
- If you are in a lake or in the sea, get out of the water immediately and move away from the shore, or from the edge of an outdoor swimming pool, avoid using umbrellas, beach parasols and fishing rods;
- If you are in the mountains, move away from the paths equipped with ropes and metal ladders and descend. Seek the shelter of a car or a cave, a building or even a bivouac, a chapel or a barn, and always keep a certain distance from the walls.
