Safety procedures

In the event of a limb fracture with no laceration of the skin, it is advisable, if possible, not to move the person and to immobilize the affected limb while waiting for help to arrive.

If the bone is protruding, with laceration of the skin, it is necessary to immediately alert the emergency services, cover the wound with sterile gauze and ensure that the person remains as still as possible.
